Number one mom media company nearly doubles in size to accommodate rapidly growing team
New York, NY (February 1, 2012)
CafeMom, the leading cross-platform company for moms, providing community, content and entertainment to an audience of more than 20 million, has signed a 10-year, 35,000-square-foot direct lease to relocate and expand its New York City headquarters to 417 Fifth Avenue.

The company, which includes properties, Mamá, CafeMom Studios, and the CafeMom Plus Network, will relocate and expand its headquarters from 18,000-square-feet at 401 Park Avenue South to the entire seventh floor at 417 Fifth Avenue, nearly doubling in size to accommodate immediate growth. CafeMom will step directly into the fully furnished space occupied by Atari, a global producer, publisher and creator of interactive entertainment.

Senior Managing Director David Dusek of international commercial real estate services firm Studley represented CafeMom in the transaction. Senior Managing Director Roxana Girand of Murray Hill Properties represented the property.

“Our goal was to limit CafeMom’s out-of-pocket exposure and to find a space south of 42nd Street with an open layout with furniture and phones in place,” said Mr. Dusek. “CafeMom was looking for a direct lease with hands on ownership and 417 Fifth Avenue is a perfect fit for its immediate needs.”

CafeMom was founded in 2006 by Michael Sanchez, former co-founder and president of Do Something, a national organization that helps millions of young people get involved in their communities, and Andrew Shue, former Melrose Place star and fellow co-founder of Do Something. CafeMom is the largest and most vibrant meeting place for moms online, where moms come to connect, give and get advice, be entertained, and make friends.

“We are thrilled to be moving CafeMom into such a central and prestigious location that accommodates the various needs of our rapidly growing company, especially with the recent launches of Mamá, our bilingual online destination for Hispanic Moms, and CafeMom Studios, our video initiative in partnership with YouTube,” said CafeMom CEO and Co-Founder Mr. Sanchez.  “By doubling the square footage of our office we will have more space for our numerous new hires and expanding video productions.”
