KUTAK ROCK LLP SIGNS 66,000-SQUARE-FOOT LEASE AT 1801 CALIFORNIA STREET

Kutak Rock LLP, a national law firm with a wide array of practice areas including business and corporate, real estate, public finance and litigation, has signed a 66,000-square-foot lease at 1801 California Street.
A legacy tenant in the building, Kutak Rock had been subleasing space from the previous master lessor, Qwest (now CenturyLink), for nine years. The firm will remain on the 31st and 32nd floors and expand on the 30th with this new, direct lease. With 16 offices and more than 425 attorneys, including 75 in its Denver office, the firm continues to grow its Denver operations and will have room for more than 90 attorneys in its redesigned space.
Studley Executive Vice President Jim McGrath and Associate Director Tom Pappas represented the client in the transaction. The landlord, Brookfield Properties, was represented by Nick Pavlakovich of Cushman Wakefield.
1801 California is Denver’s second-tallest building and its largest office building with 1.4 million square feet of rentable space. Brookfield Office Properties purchased the building from a New Jersey-based utility earlier this year and is expected to embark on a $50 million capital improvements campaign immediately. Plans call for a major renovation of the building’s lobby, common areas and plaza.
