Savills Studley, the leading global commercial real estate firm specializing in tenant representation, is pleased to announce that its client Chesapeake Beverage Co. (CBC), has completed a lease transaction for a 250,000-square-foot warehouse space located at 10000 Franklin Square Dr. in White Marsh.
CBC is the exclusive Anheuser-Busch wholesaler for Baltimore City/County and the distributor for Crown Imports, LLC, Diageo Guinness USA and a breadth of craft breweries, to name a few.
In 2014, CBC’s parent company Mitchell Distributing, a Meridian, MS based Anheuser-Busch wholesaler, purchased Winner Distributing Co., the distributor for Baltimore County. Mitchell also purchased an interest in F. P. Winner Ltd., a distributor in Maryland for a wide portfolio of brands including Corona, and Sierra Nevada, Guinness, Dogfish, Mike’s, and Seagram’s. Evan Athanas and his wife Emily moved to Baltimore in 2014 to serve as the company’s CEO.
CBC’s new warehouse facility in White Marsh will be fully occupied and ready to begin operations on April 1, 2017. The firm will be relocating approximately 250 employees from the former company location at 7001 Quad Ave. in Rosedale.
Savills Studley’s Senior Managing Director Paul Danko negotiated the transaction on behalf of CBC. Thomas Gentner, Jr. and Brian Siegel of Transwestern represented the landlord in the transaction.

“Following our thorough examination of the local real estate market for a suitable headquarters/distribution center facility, we concluded that the White Marsh building offered Chesapeake Beverage a prominent location, excellent access to their customers and the potential for future growth,” said Danko. “The building is situated along Interstate 95 which provides above average visibility for the site. This is an attractive benefit to a company that emphasizes brand advertising.”
“We firmly believe that with the right people in the right location you can accomplish anything and we are positioned perfectly to do just that in Baltimore County,” said Evan Athanas, CEO of Chesapeake. "Baltimore County and the State of Maryland continue to demonstrate that they are open for business and we appreciate the warm welcome from the teams of both County Executive Kevin Kamenetz and Governor Larry Hogan. We think this modern new facility with its central location and quality appearance will serve as a source of pride to our entire employee team.”
“This new facility in White Marsh portrays the quality image we want to project in all our warehouse properties and particularly in this very important Baltimore market,” added
Manny Mitchell, Chairman of the Board of Mitchell Companies. “We will employ several state of the art warehouse features including extensive case flow racking, computerized voice picking, location based inventory systems, and more. We will also have room for customer meetings and entertainment and look forward to sharing this facility with the public.”
Mitchell Distributing, a third generation distribution business, has been in the beer business since 1947 and has been an Anheuser-Busch Wholesaler since 1953. A nationally ranked #2 Anheuser-Busch distributor, Mitchell Distributing received the heralded Ambassadors of Excellence Award for providing Best in Class Services in 2015.
