Studley Grows Chicago Office in the Fourth Quarter 2009
Chicago, IL (January 12, 2010)
Studley’s Chicago office closed 2009 with three new hires, Michael Heyse, executive managing director; Joe David, managing director; and Jessica Edgerton, assistant director.  Each of the three is focused on a different area of commercial real estate brokerage--Heyse, investment banking; David, capital transactions; and Edgerton, tenant representation.

Mr. Heyse, who worked with Studley in the late 1990s, launching the firm’s Midwest Accounts Group, has rejoined the firm in an investment banking capacity.  After his first stint with Studley, Mr. Heyse founded Patriot Capital Advisors, a boutique real estate investment bank, as well as worked at CSFB Realty Corporation, where he was co-department head of the National Sale-Leaseback Group. Prior to joining Studley in the 90s, he leased the iconic Sears Tower, negotiating and closing several million square feet of transactions and creating more than $100 million in value through creative financial structures.

Over the past seven years, Mr. Heyse has procured and advised clients on more than 25 million square feet of sale-leaseback transactions valued at in excess of $2 billion in markets across North America.

Mr. David has joined Studley’s Tony Smaniotto to enhance the firm’s Midwest region’s Capital Transactions Group.  An 11-year veteran of the industry, he has handled capital transactions across the eastern half of the United States, focusing on three major service lines:  consulting to corporations regarding their real estate holdings and investment sales of institutional-quality real estate, as well as providing buy-side advice to foreign investors seeking opportunities in the U.S.

He has experience with both office and industrial properties and has closed transactions on more than $768 million of assets comprising approximately 11 million square feet.

Mr. David previously worked with First Industrial Real Trust and Trizec Properties.

Lastly, Ms. Edgerton has left the legal world to join the commercial real estate world.   Prior to joining Studley, she was a litigation attorney with a midsized Chicago law firm, which has armed her with the necessary skills to effectively strategize with her clients and negotiate transactions on their behalf.

Ms. Edgerton specializes in business development and representing the real estate needs of associations, law firms and large corporations within suburban Chicago, specifically in the East-West Corridor office market.

“Our growth in Chicago reflects an expansion taking place at Studley nationwide,” shared Executive Vice President and Director Richard Schuham.  “While other brokerage firms have made changes to their platforms and compensation structures to survive during this down economy, Studley has maintained the same successful, entrepreneurial tenant-focused business platform we’ve always had.  We are thrilled to have these three new Studley professionals on board and know that they will contribute to Studley’s success in 2010, as well as in years to come.”
