Wendy Feldman Block, Corporate Managing Director at Studley, the leading global commercial real estate services firm, was a panelist at CREW DC’s April Program: The New Age Workplace – A CRE Perspective.
Feldman Block joined Jill Goebel, Principal at Gensler, and Darian LeBlanc, Executive Managing Director at Cassidy Turley, in a discussion moderated by Doug Firstenberg, Principal at StonebridgeCarras, on trends in design, space planning and leasing in the changing workplace. The panel offered insight on how the public and private sector are adapting to the evolving work styles, smaller budgets and changing expectations.
When asked how private sector companies are approaching real estate today, Feldman Block noted a “Flight to Efficiency” phenomenon taking place among tenants electing to move for greater flexibility, increased efficiency, and better amenities. With a millennial generation prone to job movement, real estate is playing a greater role in recruiting and retention efforts. She also shared that landlords are more inclined to entertain lease restructures well in advance of a tenant’s lease expiration as a result of decreased demand for office space.
The event was held at The Willard Hotel in Washington, DC on April 22, 2014.
