Real estate professionals Thom Bogle and Brandon Forde connected long before they came to Studley. They met 12 years ago while working as real estate management consultants for Ernst & Young LLC, and then both joined CB Richard Ellis...

... According to Bogle, Studley has always focused on what it could do excellently in the markets it serves. Studley also has never tried to be the biggest real estate provider in the world, but rather targets the people it wants to recruit for their intelligence level, their integrity level and their backgrounds. ...

According to the team, another reason Studley is successful is that it is wholly owned by employees and has not grown through acquisition – its growth has been almost exclusively organic. “Most of the real estate providers we compete with are really collections of a bunch of companies sort of smashed together over the last 10-15 years – you’ve got different priorities and different interests,” says Bogle. ...

... As proof it is doing the right things, since it opened in 1954, Studley has made a profit every single year. ...

... But every successful firm has challenges to overcome and goals to achieve. According to Forde, Studley is not historically well known for providing portfoliowide services to corporate end users. “We’re very well known for executing complex single transactions, but a lot of people don’t know, for example, that Studley has been doing work for the U.S. General Services Administration for almost a decade now,” he says. ...

Studley believes in being better, not necessarily bigger. “We have chosen not to invest in buying up a bunch of companies and trying to cobble them together,” Bogle adds. “What we have focused on is delivering excellent services in markets important to our clients, and we’re still building on that foundation today.” ...
