GARY STEIN RETURNS TO STUDLEY
Stein named executive vice president and co-regional manager
Washington, DC (September 13, 2012)
Gary Stein has rejoined Studley’s Washington, DC office as an executive vice president and co-regional manager, announced Chairman & CEO Mitchell S. Steir. A 27-year veteran of the industry, Mr. Stein will continue advising commercial tenants throughout the DC metropolitan area while also counseling clients on corporate real estate transactions throughout the United States. He will be based in the firm’s Washington, DC office.

“We are delighted Gary has chosen to return to Studley,” said President Michael Colacino. “In addition to being one of the DC area’s most respected brokerage professionals, Gary has established himself as a team-builder and a leader. We are thrilled to welcome him home.”

Mr. Stein, who spent the first 16 years of his tenant advisory career at Studley, re-joins the firm from Cresa Washington, DC, an office he opened in 2008 and where he spent nearly five years as the managing principal. While there, Mr. Stein was responsible for several of the firm’s most notable transactions in the region including the National Association of Manufacturers’ 42,000-square-foot lease; Business Roundtable’s 26,000-square-foot lease; National Democratic Institute’s 57,000-square-foot lease; and Davis Polk & Wardwell’s 21,000-square-foot lease.

Mr. Stein points to Studley’s rapidly expanding corporate services platform, growing international presence, and its sophisticated approach to law firm transaction services, along with its commitment to its founding principle – providing strategic tenant advisory services – as the key drivers in his decision to return. “I am thrilled to be going back to Studley to work with old friends and colleagues at a firm I believe has the best platform in the business.”

“Gary is a true leader with a proven track record for delivering results,” said Studley Executive Vice President and DC Co-Regional Manager, David Lipson. “His decision to return to Studley is a direct reflection of how our firm continues to attract the best talent in the business.”

Over the course of his career, Mr. Stein has successfully completed more than 500 transactions totaling 7.5 million square feet of office space on behalf of law firms, trade associations, non-profit organizations and corporations in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. He has built an impressive portfolio of local and national clients including the American Society for Microbiology, Hollingsworth LLP, Faegre Baker Daniels, the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States and Shulman, Rogers, Gandal, Pordy & Ecker, P.A.

Prior to becoming a tenant advisor, Mr. Stein practiced real estate law at Shulman, Rogers, Gandal, Pordy & Ecker P.A. He received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Tulane University and a J.D. from the Washington College of Law at American University.
