Cresa D.C.'s Gary Stein rejoins Studley

Studley Inc. has signed Gary Stein more than four years after he left to help a competing real estate brokerage increase its presence in the district.

... Stein said he was excited about the chance to come back to Studley and put his leadership skills to use with his former employer. He returned to Studley Sept. 10 as an executive vice president and co-regional manager. He said among his goals will be to recruit additional talent.

“I learned a lot of leadership skills when I was there and now I’m bringing them back to Studley,” he said. “What I did was a challenge, and I look at this as a challenge, too, a challenge to grow an office that exists at Studley and grow it even greater.” ...

... His former bosses at Studley hadn’t overlooked those deals, and Studley Executive Vice President David Lipson said he’s glad to have Stein competing for, rather than against, his brokerage.

“Sometimes people leave for a good opportunity, and Gary had a great opportunity, and we pride ourselves on being a place that people want to come back to,” Lipson said. “Gary did a great job building the Cresa office. He beat us plenty over at Cresa, so we’re glad to have him back.”

In his new role, Stein will continue to advise tenants on real estate deals and will also be a part of Studley’s new regional management model. That model, launched earlier this year, involves stronger collaboration between Studley’s regional offices and more emphasis on its corporate services platform. ...
