International commercial real estate services firm Studley announced today that Perkins Coie has signed a long-term 56,294-square-foot lease to relocate and expand its offices to 700 13th Street, NW in Washington, DC.
The law firm, which presently occupies 43,929-square-feet at 607 14th Street, expects to take occupancy by January 1, 2011. The impetus for the move was the need to find space that could accommodate Perkins Coie’s rapid growth, as well as the expiration of its existing lease. Over the last two years, the number of attorneys in its DC office has nearly doubled.
“Working closely with Studley in assessing our options, we determined that 700 13th Street was the right location for both our clients and employees,” said John Devaney, Managing Partner of the firm’s DC office.
Studley Executive Managing Director Steve London and Vice Chairman Lois Zambo represented Perkins Coie in the transaction. Dave Bevirt of Jones Lang LaSalle represented the building landlord Charter Hall.
“This long-term lease not only satisfies Perkins Coie’s recent growth but also provides the law firm with significant flexibility for its future expansion requirements,” said London. “The build out of the new space will be scaled to its current needs and designed according to today’s law firm standards.”
Studley, which represents approximately 75 of the AmLaw 100 law firms, has represented Perkins Coie for more than 20 years.
700 13th Street is a 12-story, 243,717-square-foot Class A office building located in DC’s vibrant East End neighborhood. The building is conveniently located across the street from the Metro Center subway station.
According to London, Charter Hall plans to renovate many of the building’s common areas including the main lobby, fitness center and roof deck.
