Since joining Savills Studley in 1998 as corporate controller, Al has made a significant impact on Savills Studley’s business operation and bottom-line earnings by improving systems, streamlining business processes and recruiting talented individuals. His responsibilities encompass all aspects of accounting, budgeting, finance, tax and treasury.
Most recently, Al worked in conjunction with the Savills Studley’s information technology department and outside consultants to develop and launch a new company-wide accounting system. He has also focused on expanding the accounting and finance staff with highly qualified professionals to support the firm’s 19 nationwide offices, along with its London office, and evaluate potential investment opportunities. In addition, Al implemented a deferred compensation program and developed a model to evaluate potential acquisitions. To address Savills Studley’s growing international business, he instituted a process to address international accounting standards.
In his tenure with Savills Studley, Al has been promoted to vice president, corporate controller; senior vice president, director of finance; and senior vice president, chief financial officer – the position he holds today.
In addition to his general responsibilities as CFO, Al sits on Savills Studley’s four-member investment committee, which evaluates investment opportunities for fiscal suitability and alignment with the corporate goals. He is also on the board of the firm’s real estate funds.
Prior to joining the firm, Al worked for public accounting firms specializing in tax and audit for clients of varying sizes and industries. From 1995 to 1998, he worked with McLaughlin & Stern, LLP as the controller and director of operations, responsible for day-to-day operations, as well as the identification, acquisition, integration and consolidation of other small firms.
Al is active in the Boys and Girls Club in Morris County, New Jersey. He is a licensed CPA in New Jersey.
Al graduated from Muhlenberg College with a Bachelor of Science in accounting.
