Demetri Koutrouvelis provides strategic advisory services and expert lease negotiation for commercial real estate tenants throughout the Washington, DC metro area and nationwide. As a senior managing director based in the firm’s Washington DC office, he is responsible for structuring and negotiating a broad range of client transactions, including new leases, lease renewals, subleases, lease restructures, build-to-suits, and sales. Demetri has closed over 6 million square feet of commercial lease transactions for his clients across industry sectors, including architecture, engineering, construction, financial services, pharmaceuticals, law and nonprofit associations.

With over 30 years of diverse career experience in architecture, construction, brokerage and transaction management, Demetri offers his clients a unique and comprehensive skillset that adds value at every stage of planning and decision-making. Prior to joining Savills in 2001, he was a project manager at The Clark Construction Group for five years, where he managed the construction for a high-rise office building on K Street. Demetri also served in the preconstruction department at Clark, working with owners, developers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to determine project costs and scheduling. Before transitioning to construction, he served as an architect with world-class architectural firms Gensler and CallisonRTKL, gaining deep insight into how design impacts the branding, utility and operating costs of commercial office space.

Awards, Achievements and Activities

Throughout his tenure at Savills, Demetri has been named among the firm’s top producers, recognized for the breadth and depth of his client service and transaction expertise. He was formerly employed as a professional instructor in the Master of Real Estate program at Johns Hopkins University, his alma mater, and currently serves on the Catholic University of America School of Architecture and Planning Executive Development Board as an executive committee member. In 2014, the Commercial Real Estate Brokerage Association (CREBA) selected two of Demetri’s deals as finalists in the ‘Washington, DC Regional Leasing Transaction of the Year’ and ‘Maryland Leasing Transaction of the Year’. He has also been recognized in multiple years as a CoStar ‘Power Broker’.
