For over 30 years Denise Shay has performed strategic facilities needs assessments, facilities utilization and alternatives analyses, and facilities planning for major corporations and public agencies throughout the United States.
Through the process of visioning sessions with Savills Studley clients, Denise translates business objectives and management concerns into facilities and workplace issues and requirements. Additionally, Denise develops comprehensive space needs programs which itemize all current and projected staff and support facilities, functional relationships, and resulting square footage requirements. These qualitative and quantitative tools provide our clients with a roadmap for facilities strategies that are responsive to business plans; reduced occupancy costs; improved workplace effectiveness; and enhanced competitive advantage.
Before joining the firm, Denise served as director of strategic planning at three of the nation’s leading interior design firms: Mancini/Duffy NYC; Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum, LA; and Interior Space International, LA, where for six years she served as managing principal.
Activities & Achievements
Denise has been a featured speaker at two International Facilities Management Association World Workplace conferences. She has covered topics including strategic facilities planning for Sempra Energy’s million square foot merger, and the people/process/place/technology approach to planning increased occupancy and workplace effectiveness at the world headquarters of Hewlett-Packard.
Denise graduated from Princeton University cum laude where she received a Bachelor of Arts in architecture in a three-year accelerated program. Her faculty advisor/sponsor was Michael Graves, an internationally renowned and award-winning architect and designer who is acknowledged as a leader in the field.
