Over the course of his more than 30-year career, Jeff Cowan has built a formidable tenant representation practice, completing over 350 transactions totaling millions of square feet. Jeff joined Savills in 1996, following more than eight years as one of the top performing brokers at Grubb & Ellis Commercial Real Estate Services. Based out of the firm’s West Los Angeles office, Jeff works with many technology, media, legal, retail and financial service companies.

As a senior managing director, Jeff specializes in strategic planning, long-term real estate evaluation and the incorporation of these studies into long-term real estate transactions. He has led numerous Core Delivery Teams in implementing real estate plans that have resulted in lease renegotiation, relocation, fair market renewal negotiation, subleasing, expansion and facility downsizing.

Working closely with BLT Communications, Jeff assisted the company in assessing their requirements which included prestigious offices, competitive rates, a creative build-out, large trading room and significant power requirements. Following an established and proven process, Jeff evaluated relocation options which resulted in significant tenant improvement allowances, the ability to take more space, the opportunity to sublease a portion for controlled growth and lease rates approximately 20 percent below market.

Jeff’s experience with creative transactions enabled him to assist Chernin Entertainment in relocating to a creative environment near all of the major tech companies. During the discovery phase of the project it was determined that very limited product was available for lease. With that in mind, Jeff, with Savills Core Delivery Team, focused on a creative solution. The outcome was a lease with below market economic terms and significant concessions at a completely renovated property in one of the hottest office markets in Southern California.
