Professional Expertise

As an executive managing director at Savills Studley, Julie provides real estate advisory and transaction services, including strategic planning, leasing, sales and acquisitions, for corporate, non-profit and federal clients. Since joining the firm's Washington, DC office in 2001, Julie has participated in real estate transactions totaling more than 7.2 million square feet.

Julie manages Savills Studley's national leasing account for the US General Services Administration (GSA), with its 176 million-square-foot portfolio of leased space nationwide. Currently, Julie is involved in procurements totaling more than 1 million SF in the National Capital Region for GSA. To date, Julie and her team have negotiated more than 500 real estate transactions on behalf of the United States government and its contractors, including structuring new leases, land and building sales, and build-to-suit developments. In addition to managing the firm's work with GSA and VA, Julie's team provides national representation for The Federal Reserve, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

In 2008, Julie and her partners represented National Public Radio with its acquisition of 1111 North Capitol St, NE in Washington, DC (450,840 SF) and the subsequent sale-leaseback of its existing headquarters at 635 Massachusetts Avenue, NW in Washington, DC (400,000 SF). Her additional landmark transactions include lease procurements for The U.S. Department of Justice (575,790 SF), The U.S. Social Security Administration (334,103 SF), and The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (168,468 SF). Julie's recent private sector real estate transactions include work for Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Xenophon Strategies, Podesta Group, and Carmen Group.

Activities & Achievements

In November 2009, Real Estate Forum magazine presented Julie with its prestigious "Women of Influence" award for her professional accomplishments and contributions to the local community.

In May 2009, the Washington Business Journal honored Julie and her team with the "Deal of the Year" award for their advisory role in the sale-leaseback of National Public Radio's (NPR) headquarters and its acquisition of a new headquarters site at 1111 North Capitol St. NW. The transaction was also named "2008 Sales Transaction of the Year" by the Greater Washington Commercial Association of Realtors (GWCAR). In addition, Julie was named "2008 Broker of the Year" by the Mid Atlantic Real Estate Journal, a "2008 Powerbroker" by CoStar Advisor and one of the "Most Influential in Real Estate" by Bisnow on Business.

Julie has served as an expert panelist at real estate industry events and has recently testified on Capitol Hill, in front of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee's Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings and Emergency Management on the topic of GSA's leasing programs nationwide. She is also the author of The Office Interior Design Guide: An Introduction for Facility and Design Professionals, published by John Wiley & Sons, 1994 and 1996.


Julie attended the University of Virginia and graduated from Boston University with a Bachelors of Science degree.
