Michael is active in lease acquisitions, renewals, and dispositions throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and major metropolitan markets in the United States. His areas of expertise include development of strategic office real estate plans, market research, trend analysis, transaction strategy, municipal incentive negotiations, financial analysis and leverage negotiations.
One of Michael’s recent transactions was the 158,000-square-foot U.S. headquarters relocation for Babcock and Brown LP. Named as one of the Office Deals of the Year by the San Francisco Business Times, the Babcock and Brown transaction was also reported to be the largest lease signed on an aggregate value basis. In addition to relocating the investment firm, Michael was successful in subleasing 72,000 square feet of Babcock Brown’s existing headquarters space. Other notable transactions include the representation of Goodwin Proctor LLP in over 140,000 square feet of office deals to accommodate the firm’s rapid West Coast expansion which included new locations in San Francisco (25,000 square feet), Menlo Park (58,000 square feet), San Diego (20,000 square feet), and Palo Alto (20,000 square feet). Additionally, Michael represents such prestigious clients as, Wells Fargo Securities, Liberty Mutual, Kirkland & Ellis, Pattern Energy, Davis Wright Tremaine, Recurrent Energy, and Pillsbury Winthrop, among others.
Michael began his career in commercial real estate as a market analyst and continues to leverage his skills and experiences in analyzing labor, demographic, and economic cycles to effectively forecast future trends in commercial real estate markets.
CoStar Group, the leading provider of commercial real estate information, has named Michael to its annual list of “Power Brokers”, recognizing him as one of the top brokers in the San Francisco market. Additionally, the San Francisco Business Times honored his Babcock and Brown deal as one of two finalists for the Office Deals of the Year Award.
Michael is a licensed real estate salesperson in the state of California. He is a native of Sydney, Australia and has lived in the Bay Area since 1980. Michael maintains an active lifestyle and participates in numerous outdoor sporting activities.
Michael received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
