As vice chairman of Savills’ Washington, DC office, Rick Rome offers more than 40 years of experience in real estate – locally, nationally, and internationally. Rick exclusively represents law firms, non-profits, associations, and corporations in evaluating office space requirements and implementing strategies to achieve their objectives.

Rick’s clients have included Hogan Lovells, C-SPAN, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Arent Fox, Eversheds Sutherland, the DC Bar Association, the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, the Public Broadcasting Service, the U.S. Department of State in Tanzania and Kenya, Freddie Mac, Piper & Marbury (now DLA Piper), the National Center and Caucus on Black Aging, the National Partnership for Women & Families, and the Society for Human Resource Management.

Notable assignments include a 200,000 square foot new headquarters for the American Association for the Advancement of Science and two long term leases for Hogan Lovells’ headquarters totaling 500,000 square feet. Rick has recently represented Hogan Lovells in securing space in Boston, Miami, Tysons, Baltimore, Houston, and Philadelphia. A typical office for Hogan Lovells is approximately 40,000 square feet. We have recently subleased 70,000 square feet of excess space for the firm in Washington, DC and we have disposed of excess space in Denver, Miami, Los Angeles, Boston, and Baltimore. Rick has also travelled to Tokyo and Brussels for the law firm.

Awards, Achievements and Activities

Rick has served on the boards of Horton’s Kids, Partners for Kigezi (Uganda) Orphans Home Inc., Gift of Adoption of the Capital Region and on the corporate advisory board of the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs. Rick is currently serving on the Community Connections Real Estate Foundation Board and on the advisory boards of In A Perfect World Foundation and House Studios.

In June 2015, Rick was presented with the ‘Francis P. Cotter/Eliot S. Hall Corporate Service Award’ by the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs. Professionally, in 1994, he earned the title ‘Distinguished Sales Associate of the Year’ from the Washington Association of Realtors.
