A vice chairman located in Savills Studley's Washington, DC office, Rick offers more than 40 years of experience in real estate, locally, nationally and internationally. Rick has exclusively represented non-profits, law firms, associations, retailers, schools, government entities and corporates in evaluating building and space requirements and implementing programs to achieve their objectives. Clients have included the U.S. Department of State in Kenya and Tanzania, C-SPAN, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Hogan Lovells, Eversheds Sutherland, the Kigezi Orphans Home (Uganda), the DC Bar Association, the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, Equal Justice Works, the National Center and Caucus on Black Aging, CentroNia, Retailer Cohoes, Designer Everett Hall and the National Association for the Education of Young Children.  

Assignments have included site selection for new U.S. Embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Nairobi, Kenya after the bombings in 1998. In addition, Rick led the effort to build a 200,000 square foot headquarters building for the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Washington DC. He has also represented the law firm, Hogan Lovells, in securing space in Tokyo, Boston, Colorado Springs, Denver, Miami, Los Angeles, Palo Alto, San Francisco, McLean, Baltimore, Houston and Philadelphia. In Washington DC, the leases negotiated for Hogan Lovells have totaled over 1,000,000 square feet. 

Rick and colleagues recently completed a 100,000 square foot building for the DC Bar Association in Washington DC. Leases for C-SPAN have totaled over 500,000 square feet in Washington DC, New York and Indiana. Additional clients have included Freddie Mac (an evaluation of a 200,000 square foot build-to-suit completed in McLean), the Society for Human Resource Management (two build-to-suits totaling 150,000 square feet completed in Alexandria) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (an 80,000 square foot acquisition in Washington DC).  Rick also completed a 150,000 square feet lease for Eversheds Sutherland. Most recently, Rick completed a new school for 400 students at the Kigezi Home for Orphans in Uganda.

Activities & Achievements

Rick was recognized by the former Washington DC Association of Realtors as the Distinguished Sales Associate of the Year in 1994. In 2015, Rick received the Francis P. Cotter / Elliott S. Hall Corporate Service Award from the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs.

Rick serves on the Board of Directors of Horton’s Kids, The Gift of Adoption Capital Region, Community Connections Foundation, and Partners of Kigezi Home for Orphans in Uganda. Rick also serves on the Advisory Council of Girls on the Run DC/MD and on the Corporate Advisory Board of the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs.

Rick is a member of CoreNet Global, the Urban Land Institute, the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Commercial Real Estate Brokers Association in Washington DC.

Education

Rick received his Bachelor of Arts in government from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut and holds his brokers licenses in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
