As an Assistant Director for Savills Studley’s Chicago office, Sean Phelan is primarily responsible for new business development, strategic planning and execution of real estate solutions on behalf of tenants. Sean’s background in law and corporate restructuring enable him to execute innovative transactions from a comprehensive and holistic approach.
Sean began his career in finance at Unisource Worldwide, Inc., where he was in charge of the cross-border restructuring of its British Columbia, CAN operations. He later went on to work in the legal departments of both Stepan Co. and Intersport, Inc., where he drafted, revised and negotiated various corporate agreements, as well as counseled and advised the business development units on client related legal issues. Sean’s legal experience further extends to the Loyola Business Law Clinic, where he represented and counseled entrepreneurs in all stages of the business formation and development process.
Activities & Achievements
While studying law at Loyola University Chicago, Sean received the coveted CALI award for earning the highest grade in Documenting & Negotiating Finance Transactions, as well as being selected twice to represent Loyola in the bi-annual LawMeet competition. Sean is currently an active member of the Chicago and DuPage Bar Associations.
Sean played hockey at the University of Iowa. These days, in addition to playing in a local men’s league, Sean enjoys volunteering his time to youth hockey programs and camps in the surrounding area.
Sean earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from the University of Iowa, and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago, where he concentrated in real estate and corporate law.
