Shay joined Savills Studley’s Miami office in 2016 with responsibility to grow the industrial team and lead cross-border transactions with Brazil and Latin America. His background of international tenant rep experience and 14 years in Brazil aligns well with Savills Studley’s occupier and increasingly global focus.
Shay began his real estate career at JLL in São Paulo, starting as the transaction manager exclusive to P&G and eventually being promoted to lead the industrial department of the Tenant Representation Group. He represented international and Brazilian tenants on leases, renewals, land acquisitions, build to suits, incentives negotiations and consulting assignments. Besides P&G, companies such as VW, Iron Mountain, Yahoo!, and Jaguar Land Rover relied on Shay’s expertise in helping them accomplish their expansion plans.
After several years, Shay received an invitation to lead AOS Studley’s Industrial division in Brazil, where he continued to represent multinational tenants, working to understand his client’s true needs and translating them to meet Brazil’s sometimes complicated reality. He assisted Alstom, Mane, and Servair with new warehouse lease and land acquisitions.
Most recently, Shay served as Development Manager for an industrial real estate developer in São Paulo, where he honed his expertise in build to suit, investment sales, and sale-leaseback transactions. Among several successes, he was responsible for the development of a 250,000 sf refrigerated warehouse build to suit operation in the northeast of Brazil for BRF, a leading global food company.
Prior to joining the real-estate world, Shay was a co-owner of several Mail Boxes Etc. franchises in São Paulo and a marketing manager for Dell’s Latin American division. His entrepreneurial and corporate background in Brazil have given him a very unique view and knowledge of global business.
Shay enjoys learning about how technology can improve the lives of people and organizations. He is a huge fan of Bitcoin and Blockchain technology and studies Austrian economics in his free time. He is an active sports enthusiast and former collegiate tennis player.
Shay received his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Texas Tech University and his MBA degree from Thunderbird School of Global Management. A native English speaker, he is also fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.
