Stephan possesses broad expertise in commercial leasing. His extensive experience with a wide range of complex real estate transactions enables him to structure innovative solutions and to obtain superior results on behalf of his clients.
In 2014, Stephan advised a number of notable clients including: Remy Cointreau, Baker Tilly, Action Against Hunger, The New York Mission Society, Epoch Investment Partners, Gay Men’s Health Crisis, The Collective, Garrigues and the Government of Cataluña.
Prior to joining Savills Studley, Stephan was an associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, LLP. At Paul, Weiss, Stephan’s legal practice focused on sophisticated and often high-profile real estate transactions, including, without limitation, the World Trade Center joint venture and the sale-leaseback of New York State’s three marquee horse racing venues: Aqueduct Racetrack, Saratoga Raceway and Belmont Park.
Stephan is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the University of Montana Alumni Association. Stephan is also a board member of the US-Austrian Chamber of Commerce.
Stephan earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Philosophy from the University of Montana, where he was on the 4.0 GPA List, and a Juris Doctorate from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and where he co-founded the Columbia Real Estate Law Society. Stephan also studied at the University of Vienna and is fluent in German.
