Mr. Heller is Executive Managing Director and group head of the Capital Transactions Group of Savills Studley in New York. With 35 years of experience in the real estate business, he is responsible for investment sales activity in the New York market, where he focuses on office, residential, and specialty retail buildings, and development sites. Some of his more notable sales include: Citigroup Center at 54th Street and Lexington Avenue, The Madison Belvedere apartment building at 10 East 29th Street, the Rhinelander Mansion leased to Ralph Lauren at 72nd Street and Madison, and the Drake Hotel development site at 432 Park Avenue. The other markets in which he has been active include: Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, and markets in New Jersey, Florida, Ohio and Indiana. Separate from the outright sale of properties, he has also structured participating and/or convertible mortgages, equity joint ventures, the sale of partial interests, equity recapitalizations, and note sales, the most notable of which was the sale of the notes and mortgage encumbering the Chrysler Building. During his tenure, Mr. Heller has closed in excess of $12 billion of asset and note sale transactions comprising in excess of 48 million square feet.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Heller worked for Insignia/ESG and Jones Lang LaSalle.
In 2013, Mr. Heller was the recipient of the REBNY Louis Smadbeck Broker Recognition Award. In 2007, Mr. Heller was awarded the Real Estate Board’s “Most Ingenious Deal of the Year” for the sale of the New York Law School Development Site in Tribeca, a transaction that closed in 2006. Mr. Heller also received this distinction in 2004 for the sale of McGraw Hill’s 45% C-Corp Interest in 1221 Avenue of the Americas.
Mr. Heller serves as a governor of The Real Estate Board of New York and chairs its Sales Brokers Committee, is a member of the Young Men’s/Women’s Real Estate Association, and is a Fellow of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Mr. Heller was on Manhattan Community Board 5 for five years and served on its new development and landmark committees. Additionally, he has been a Guest Lecturer at Columbia’s Real Estate Program and an Adjunct Professor in New York University’s Graduate Real Estate Program.
Mr. Heller received his undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University and received a graduate certificate in Real Estate at the Real Estate Institute of New York University.
