A corporate law firm on the hunt for built-out space recently snagged 24,600 square feet on the 28th floor at 101 Park Ave., a building that has proven particularly attractive for attorneys.
Sills Cummis & Gross inked an eight-year sublease, and while asking rents in the building top $100 per square foot, the international outfit scored its space at a significant discount.
Come September, when Sills plans to move in, it will join a number of other law firms including Curtis Colt & Mosle and Morgan Lewis & Bockius. The prevalence of attorneys is no accident, according to Zev Holzman of Savills Studley, who represented the tenant along with colleague Paul Revson.
"The space is in a building whose natural floor plate favors a perimeter office layout," Mr. Holzman said, noting that due to privacy concerns, many lawyers cannot work in the open-floor environments that have been catching on in other industries.
