Studley is expanding another specialty: investment sales.
Bisnow has learned that Studley plans to announce this week it has snagged noted capital markets gurus Paul Hanafin and Rick Siegel from West Lane to help expand DC's geographic reach in investment sales. Studley's current team of Vernon Knarr, Parker Lange, and Jeff Harps are already superstars but generally focus on DC—
together the team will work to cover the entire region. Why the new push? Studley is well aware of the economy and tenant downsizing trends and sees this as a great opportunity for diversification. Paul and Rick bring 55 years of combined experience, working both Downtown and in the 'burbs. Plus, Rick needs something else to celebrate now that his alma mater, Notre Dame, is about to win the national college football championship. (We say that assuming we don't have many Alabama readers in DC.)
Regional co-managing partner Bill Quinby recruited them, which is another symbol: While the famous quintet of Fulcher, Rome, Zambo, Stein, and Lipson hold down the fort in DC, Bill's the one roaming the suburbs, and that's where he wanted extra force. How is investment sales related to tenant work? Owner-occupants such as trade associations sometimes want to buy or sell buildings, although Studley also does middle market work for families and individuals, advising on refinancing or redevelopment as well as transactions. Although we're not sure when Bill finds the time: This weekend he hung 4,000 Christmas lights (we're not exaggerating) including up a 25-foot pine.
