Studley, a leading global commercial tenant advisory firm, announced the expansion of its San Francisco, California office with the addition of Matt Chatham. Chatham, who focuses solely on representing tenants in facility and site acquisitions and dispositions, has been named corporate managing director.
“Matt’s entire career has been spent advocating on behalf of tenants and Studley’s tenant-only platform was one of the key factors in his decision to join the firm,” said Steve Barker, Studley executive vice president and San Francisco office branch manager. “He brings significant energy, expertise and experience to the San Francisco office and recruiting him represents an advantage for our team and our clients.”
“Having started my career at a firm with a tenant-only platform, Studley’s singular focus felt comfortable as it addresses any concerns tenants may have around potential conflicts of interest,” said Chatham. “Furthermore, I believe my clients will be even better served by a firm with this pure platform, one that also fosters the valuable dynamic of like minds sharing information, ideas and intelligence.”
Chatham has been involved in more than three million square feet of real estate transactions in his nine-year career. Recent representative clients include Walmart.com, 6waves Lolapps, Skadden Arps, Aliph, Inc., Tobin & Tobin and Coverity, Inc.
In 2010, he received a “Deal of the Year” award from the San Francisco Business Times for representing Walmart.com in its 266,000-square-foot headquarters acquisition in San Bruno. Additionally, CoStar Group, the leading provider of commercial real estate information, named him to its 2010 list of national “Power Brokers.”
Prior to joining Studley, Chatham was with Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) where he was consistently one of the top producers in the San Francisco office, earning the firm’s “Top Achiever Award” from 2008-2010.
Chatham began his career with The Vortex Group, a New York tenant rep brokerage started by a former partner of Julien J. Studley, the founder of the tenant advocacy concept. After relocating to San Francisco, he joined the Staubach Company, a firm also focused solely on tenant brokerage until its acquisition by JLL.
Chatham graduated from Rollins College, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations.
