Seattle's office market ended the year with a flurry of larger leases as top employers made pre-emptive strikes on higher-caliber spaces. Tenants requiring big blocks of premier space in 2017 will need to get out in the market early and be creative under these conditions.

The Seattle retail market (Neighborhood & Community Shopping Centers) ended Q1 2015 with a vacancy rate of 6.5%. The rate decreased from the previous quarter’s rate of 6.8% and decreased from the rate one year ago (7.3%). Neighborhood Shopping Centers reported a vacancy rate of 7.2% for the quarter, which decreased from the rate of 8.0% twelve months ago. Meanwhile, Community Shopping Centers reported a vacancy rate of 5.8% for the quarter, which decreased from the rate of 6.6% twelve months ago.
